HALFTIME: VT 31, Clemson 29

by Kelly Gramlich

Kelly’s 3-point Stance:

  1. Playing Smart: Clemson is doing an excellent job of taking care of the basketball against Virginia Tech, having only committed five turnovers in the first half.
  2. Three Point Defense: The Lady Tigers defended the perimeter well as the Hokies only made 1 out of 13 three point attempts in the first half.
  3. At the Buzzer: Francesca Tagliapietra sank a DEEP three pointer at the end of regulation to cut Virginia Tech’s lead to only two points at halftime.

Fun Fact from the First Half:The Lady Tiger defense held Virginia Tech’s leading scorer, Rachel Camp, scoreless in the first half of action.

Keys to Victory:

  1. The Lady Tigers need to rebound more effectively in the second half in order to defeat the Hokies. Virginia Tech outrebounded Clemson 28-15 in the first half.
  2. Clemson needs to use its athleticism and speed in the second half and push the ball more in transition. The Lady Tigers outscored the Hokies 4-0 in fast break points in the first half.
  3. The Hokies outscored the Lady Tigers 14-6 in the paint in the first half. If the Lady Tigers make a concentrated effort to attack the paint in the second half and continue to shoot well from behind the arc, Clemson should defeat Virginia Tech and win their first contest of ACC play.
