HALFTIME: Clemson 34, Longwood 27

Kelly’s 3-Point Stance:

  1. Senior Leadership: Nikki Dixon has been hot early in the first half, scoring 13 points and the first nine points of the game for the Lady Tigers.
  2. Free Points: Clemson is an impressive 7-9 from the charity stripe, already making as many free throws as they attempted in the entire previous game against North Dakota on December 12th.
  3. Playing Smart: The Lady Tigers have taken care of the basketball well in the first half of action, only turning it over six times.

Fun Fact of the First Half: The Tigers’ true post players logged just six combined minutes as Clemson is adjusting to Longwood’s five-guard set

Keys to Victory:

  1. Clemson was outrebounded in the first half, 22-20 by Longwood. The Lady Tigers need to use their size inside to win the rebounding battle in the second half.
  2. The Lady Tigers need to continue to pressure the Lancers and force them into turnovers. Longwood has committed eight first half turnovers and the Lady Tigers have turned those turnovers into nine points.
  3. Clemson needs to use their superior athleticism and speed to run the floor and score off of the fast break. If the Lady Tigers can get easy buckets in transition, Clemson should improve to 6-5 on the season and an impressive 6-0 in Littlejohn Coliseum.
