GT Downs Tigers 5-4 in 10

ATLANTA, GA. – Georgia Tech hit three two-out singles in the 10th inning to score two runs, capped off by Ryan Peurifoy’s walkoff single, in its 5-4 win over Clemson at Russ Chandler Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets, who won the series 2-1, improved to 26-17 overall and 11-13 in the ACC. The Tigers fell to 23-21 overall and 12-11 in ACC play. Clemson is 8-4 in its last 12 ACC games, as the four losses have been by a combined five runs.

After Matt Gonzalez’s two-run homer in the first inning, Clemson scored the next three runs, the last two coming on solo homers by Weston Wilson and Steven Duggar in the top of the fifth inning. Wade Bailey tied the score 3-3 when he scored on Thomas Smith’s two-out, infield single in the bottom of the fifth inning. Reed Rohlman’s run-scoring single in the top of the 10th inning gave Clemson a 4-3 lead. But Georgia Tech rallied with two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Zac Ryan (7-1) earned the win despite allowing a run in the 10th inning. Clate Schmidt (1-2) suffered the loss.

Clemson takes five days off for final exams before hosting Louisville in a three-game series starting Saturday at 1 p.m. on RSN.
