Clemson Personnel Update

  • Altroy Bodrick (LB)–Second-team linebacker who suffered dislocated ankle in August 25 scrimmage and will be lost for four to six weeks.
  • Jermyn Chester (OT)–Second-team offensive tackle who tore ACL on first day of August practice, lost for the season.
  • Nathan Gillespie (OT)–Second-team offensive tackle who had surgery on Aug. 27 to repair a torn ligament in his left knee. He injured the knee in scrimmage on Aug. 18, lost for the season.
  • T.J. Watkins (OT)–Starting offensive tackle who sufferd a high ankle sprain in practice last week. Played 12 snaps vs. Marshall, should be back in starting lineup for Virginia.
  • Travis Zachery (TB)–Starting tailback in all 11 games last year who led Clemson in rushing and all-purpose running, was suspended for the Marshall game, an announcement Coach Bowden made in the spring. He will return for Virginia game.
  • Gary Childress (DE)–Starting defensive end missed the Marshall game with pulled calf muscle. Should return for Virginia.

Clemson Veterans vs. Virginia

  • Alex Ardley had eight tackles in 76 plays and two passes broken up at Virginia last year.
  • Javis Austin had 4-28 rushing with 3-21 receiving vs. Virginia in 1997. He was 7-20 rushing 4-19 receiving at Virginia in 1998.
  • Terry Bryant had two tackles vs. Virginia in 1997, had five tackles in starting role at Virginia last year.
  • Robert Carswell had 10 tackles in 60 plays in 1998.
  • Gary Childress had three tackles, including two for losses at Virginia in 28 plays as a starter. One of his tackles behind the line of scrimmage was a safety.
  • DoMarco Fox had six tackles in 60 plays as a starter in 1997, then had six tackles in 74 plays as a starter in 1998.
  • Jason Holloman had three tackles and caused a fumble at Virginia in 1998.
  • Mal Lawyer had 4-40 in 1997 against Virginia and had 2-32 receiving at Virginia in 1998.
  • Damonte McKenzie had 5 tackles, including a sack, in 1998.
  • Brandon Streeter was 12-24 for 145 and a touchdown at Virginia in 1998.
  • Brian Wofford had 2-32 vs. Virginia in 1997 and 1-54 and a touchdown at Virginia last season.
