Georgia Tech To Enact Stricter Security Measures For Remaining Home Games

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech Athletic Association will enact some stricter security measures for the Clemson game Saturday and for all remaining home games in light of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Backpacks will not be allowed through the gates Bobby Dodd Stadium, and the Athletic Association reserves the right to search all other types of bags. Fans are discouraged from bringing bags of any kind, including purses. Gates will open one and a half hours prior to kickoff, which is at 3:30 p.m.

Fans are also reminded that the following items are also prohibited: food, alcohol, bottles, cans, thermos bottles, artificial noisemakers, umbrellas and stadium seats with arms. The GTAA reserves the right to refuse admission to or eject any person whose conduct is disruptive or dangerous.

Extra security personnel will be on hand to assist in this process.

These measures also will affect members of the news media covering Tech’s games. All media, including photographers, are asked to be aware that backpacks will not be allowed in, and other bags are likely to be searched. The media entrance to the stadium is Gate 4.
