CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers Womenâs Basketball team (10-8, 3-4) makes the trip to Atlanta to play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (15-3, 3-3). Sundayâs game will tip off at 2:00 p.m. and can be seen on ACCNX. Andy Demetra and Fallon Stokes will be on the call on TV, William Qualkinbush and Faxon Childress can be heard on the Clemson Athletic Network.
The Tigers have an overall record of 46-49 against the Yellow Jackets. Shawn Poppie-led teams havenât ever played against Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets are the Tigersâ sixth opponent ranked in the top 25 this season, and third consecutive contest against a team that is at least receiving votes in the top 25. Earlier this season, the Tigers beat a California who was ranked No. 20 in the nation.
Offensively, Clemson is led by Loyal McQueen, a native of Florence, S.C. who signed with Georgia Tech and Yellow Jacket head coach Nell Fortner out of high school. McQueen spent a season and a half at Georgia Tech. The point guard is averaging career highs in scoring (14.1 ppg), rebounding (3.5 rpg), assists (5.1 apg), and shooting a career high slash (.425/.412/.841). She tallied 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists in Clemsonâs game at Florida State on Thursday.
Mia Moore also had a great game against the Seminoles by scoring 14 points on 6-9 shooting including a pair of threes. Moore is the teamâs second leading scorer (11.4 ppg) and is second on the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) while leading the team in steals (1.2 spg).
Clemson post player Tessa Miller logged her third double-double of the season against Florida State with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Her previous two double-doubles came against Kennesaw State and Wake Forest.
