Game Preview

Clemson, S.C. – After defeating Davidson 19-10 in its season opener at home on Saturday, February 10, Clemson (1-0) will now travel down the road to Greenville, S.C. to play Furman on Wednesday, February 14 at 6:00 p.m. in its first away game of the 2024 season. The game will not be available for streaming but live stats will be available here.

Freshman Regan Byrne and UMBC transfer Claire Bockstie are both coming off of big performances in their debut as a Clemson Tiger. Leading Clemson in goals with six, Regan showed that she will be a playmaker this season. Regan’s impressive play made her the No. 1 freshman in the country in goals scored and points totaled and the No. 5 overall player in the country in points per game. Bockstie demonstrated that she’s a threat both in feeding the ball and taking it to cage herself, as she led Clemson in total points with four goals and five assists. In fact, three of Regan’s goals were assisted by Bockstie.

While Clemson comes into Wednesday’s game with one game already under its belt, this will be Furman’s first game of the season. Furman finished their 2023 season with a 10-8 overall record. The Paladin’s Anna Roser, Hannah Dintino and Katelyn Sousa look to make an impact as they were named to the Big South’s Preseason All-Conference Team. This season, Furman is led by first year Interim Head Coach Lauren Farber and first year Assistant Coach Amanda Monahan.

In last year’s first ever matchup between the two programs, Clemson beat Furman at home 19-3. Goalie Emily Lamparter shutout Furman in the first half and 11 different Tigers would go on to score for Clemson. The Tigers beat Furman in draw controls and ground balls, securing 17 out of 25 draws and picking up 22 of the 23 ground balls.
