CLEMSON , S.C. – Clemson (6-4, 1-4 ACC) will host Queens (6-4) on Sunday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Clemson Lacrosse Complex for this year’s Morgan’s Message game. The game will be streamed live on ACCNX and live stats will be available here.
The Tigers get set to play the Royals after narrowly losing to No. 5 Notre Dame in double overtime on Friday, March 22. In Friday night’s game, Kayla Macleod and Emily Lamparter put on stellar performances. Macleod recorded a career high of five goals to lead Clemson in scoring on the day, including three consecutive goals in the fourth quarter to bring the Tigers even with the Fighting Irish at 12-12. In the cage, Lamparter’s saves in the last seconds of the fourth quarter and first overtime kept Clemson alive. Despite their efforts, Notre Dame was able to find the net first and come away with the 14-13 win.Â
Clemson will now take a quick break from ACC play as they play Queens for the first time in program history on Sunday. The Royals are coming off of their highest scoring game yet, defeating Wofford 18-11 on Wednesday, March 20. So far this season, Queens has outscored their opponents 127-108. Sophomore Kayleen Favreau is the Royals biggest threat on offense as she leads in goals with 32 and in total points with 46.Â
Clemson continues to be ranked amongst the best in several statistical categories. The Tigers have the third best clearing percentage, the eighth best shots on goal percentage, the ninth best scoring offense, the tenth best free position percentage and the eleventh highest draw controls per game rank. Notably, Clemson’s freshmen have also stepped into the national scene. Regan Byrne is ranked as the No. 4 ranked freshman in goals per game, Natalie Shurtleff is ranked as the No, 5 freshman in assists and Kayla Macleod is ranked as No. 2 Freshman in free position percentage. These three will look to continue to make an impact in Sunday’s game and throughout the rest of the season.Â
