Furman Defeats N.C. State 3-1

CLEMSON, S.C. — Melissa Turner scored two goals while teammate Danielle Petro had two assists in leading Furman to a 3-1 win over N.C. State in the Clemson University Women’s Soccer Invitational at Clemson, SC Friday afternoon.

Clemson will play UNC-Asheville later this evening in the second game. On Saturday, UNC-Asheville will play N.C. State at 4:30 p.m. and Clemson will play Furman at 7:00 p.m.

Furman took a 1-0 lead as Sarah Tollick scored at the 20:54 mark with an assist by Petro. Late in the second half, Furman scored two goals and N.C. State scored one goal in a span of 2:54. Turner scored at the 74:53 mark, while N.C. State’s Laura Scott scored from an assist from Shannon Tully at the 76:58 mark.

Turner scored the Paladin’s third goal with an assist by Emily Turgeon at the 77:47 point.

Furman remains perfect with a 10-0 record overall, and N.C. State is now 4-4-1.
