NEW YORK — Former Clemson University men’s basketball player Landry Nnoko was voted the 2017-18 NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year on Wednesday, as voted on by the league’s 26 head coaches and general managers
Nnoko finished the season averaging a double-double with 14.7 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest. His 11.5 rebounds per game ranked second in the league, while he also ranked fourth in blocks per game (2.06).
In his first year in the league, Nnoko tied for second with 27 double-doubles, while leading the Drive to its first-ever playoff berth and a franchise-best 29-21 record.
The former Tiger served as the anchor for a Grand Rapids Drive defense that finished third in the league in scoring defense (102.8 ppg), fourth in defensive rating (102.5) and fifth in opponent field goal percentage (44.5 percent).
In Nnoko’s time in Clemson, he was named to the ACC All-Defensive Team during his senior season in 2015-16. Also as a senior, Nnoko tied for the team lead in double-doubles (3) and led the team in offensive rebounds (67).
