ATLANTA, Ga. – The Clemson Tigers officially completed the first day of the ACC Outdoor Championships as the team impressed in the first round of events in Atlanta.
Headlining the day was Marie Forbes as she was crowned the 2024 ACC Women’s Hammer Throw Champion after throwing a new personal best of 67.03m in the event. The mark, which secured her first-place and earns her First Team All-ACC, also improves her No. 2 spot on the all-time list.
In the men’s hammer throw, Daniel Cope recorded a sixth place overall finish with a throw of 63.42m which earned him Second Team All-ACC. Helping secure points on the men’s side was Sawyer Dagan and Efram Melendez as they both finished in the top 8 in their events to help improve the Tigers overall score.
In the preliminary events, eight total Tigers advanced themselves to the finals as Clemson will have multiple athletes represented in the finals of the women’s 400 meter hurdles, the men’s 200 meters and the women’s 200 meters.
After the first day of events, the Clemson men are in fifth place overall with 5.33 points and the women are in sixth with 10 points. Competition is set to continue tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. with the men’s javelin throw.
