Clemson, S.C.–Junior linebacker Robert Carswell joined Adams as a preseason All-America pick by the publication.
Adams set the school and conference record with his 35 tackles for loss, which was tops in the NCAA, and tied the school record with 16 sacks, which was second in the nation behind Virginia Tech’s Corey Moore in 1999. Adams had more tackles (186, including the Peach Bowl) than any player in the country.
Carswell, a senior free safety, set a Clemson record for tackles by a defensive back with 129 in 1999. Eighty-nine of those 129 were first hits. He needs just 13 tackles to break all-time great Terry Kinard’s record for tackles by a defensive back in a career.
The premier edition of Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook will be available for mail order by mid-July (1-800-828-4667). It will be in bookstores in early August.
