Other Notes: Clemson wide receiver Rod Gardner was named one 10 semifinalists for the Fred Biletnikoff Award on Thursday….Gardner needs just 13 receptions to break Terry Smith’s Clemson career record…he has 149 and the record is 162…Keith Adams was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award last week and Travis Zachery was added to the Doak Walker Award list last week… Zachery needs one rushing touchdown to become Clemson’s career leader in that area…he has 31, tied with Lester Brown…Zachery already has the career overall touchdown mark with 35…three Clemson players were honored by the ACC last week, Keith Adams was named defensive back, Rod Gardner offensive back and Willie Simmons was named the top rookie…Clemson has 17 players on its active roster from Georgia, nine of whom are expected to start, including all for players on the defensive line…Clemson needs just two touchdowns and 24 points to break season school records in those categories in a season…Clemson’s 1950 team will be honored on Saturday…that team finished the season 9-0-1 and was the first Clemson team ranked in the final top 10 of the AP poll…that team had three games of at least 50 points scored…the only other Clemson team to do that is the 2000 Tigers.
