Five Clemson Women’s Soccer Players Drafted By The WUSA

CLEMSON, SC – Five former Clemson Women Soccer Players were drafted in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) draft Monday.

The WUSA is a new women’s professional soccer league consisting of eight teams: Atlanta, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Orlando-Tampa, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington D.C. The league will debut in April, 2001.

Nancy Augustyniak, a defender, was the 33rd overall pick, and Julie Augustyniak, a defender, was the 64th overall pick as both players were drafted by the Atlanta Beat. Amy Gray, a midfielder, was the 90th pick overall and was selected by the Washington Freedom. Beth Keller, a forward, was the 98th overall selection and was drafted by the Philadelphia Charge. Lindsay Massengale, a defender, was the 108th overall pick and was drafted by the Boston Breakers.

Julie Augustyniak and Nancy Augustyniak were on the 2000 Lady Tiger team that finished with a 19-3-1 record overall and a 5-1-1 record in the ACC. The 2000 team were also the ACC regular season champions.

Amy Gray played on the 1997 and 1998 Clemson teams. Beth Keller played for the Lady Tigers in 1996-99 and Lindsay Massengale was a Lady Tiger in the 1995-98 seasons.
