Eighth-Ranked Women’s Tennis Blanks Boston College, 7-0

WEYMOUTH, MA – Clemson’s eighth-ranked women’s tennis team blanked Boston College, 7-0, at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, MA on Friday night. The Tigers improved to 10-2 on the year and 2-0 in the ACC with the victory, while the Eagles fell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 against conference foes.

Ani Mijacika and Federica van Adrichem, the nation’s 12th-ranked team, continued their dominance in doubles play, winning by a convincing 8-1 margin over Dasha Cherkasova and Alina Sullivan at the flight one position. Ina Hadziselimovic and Estefania Balda then won at the second slot, 8-3, over Lauren Cash and Brittany Delaney to clinch the doubles point for Clemson. At flight three, Boston College’s team of Gia Nafarrete and Lana Krasnopolsky defeated Maria Brito and Alexandra Luc, 8-6.

The Tigers then swept all six singles matches, winning five in straight sets. Mijacika, ranked #47, won, 6-4, 6-1 over Krasnopolsky at flight one, while #63 Balda defeated Cherkasov at the number two position, 7-5, 6-1. Van Adrichem then posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Sullivan at flight three, while Luc won easily over Delaney, 6-1, 6-3, in the number five match-up. Selma Babic defeated Sarah Svoboda at flight six, 6-2, 6-2, and Hadziselimovic won the first and third sets over Cash at flight four (6-3, 2-6, 6-2) for the Clemson victory.

The Tigers will be back action on Sunday morning as they will take on the Maryland Terrapins in College Park, MD.
