CLEMSON, S.C. — Sophomore defender Hamady Diop was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week for the week of Sept. 13-19. Diop’s steady performance on the Tigers’ backline helped lead Clemson to two clean sheets in its victories over Georgia Southern and Boston College.
Diop has been a consistent presence in Head Coach Mike Noonan’s side this season, starting all seven games thus far and playing 581 minutes, good for most on the team of any non-goalkeeper. The Senegal native features prominently on a defense that has allowed just one goal in its seven matches. Diop has six total points on the season.
In earning his team of the week nod, Diop joins fellow defender Oskar Agren as Tigers honored by TopDrawerSoccer for their performances. Agren was named to the previous week’s iteration of the team.
Diop and Agren will be in action tonight in Greensboro, N.C. when they take on UNC Greensboro at 7 p.m. That match will kickoff at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+
