D’Andrea, Hill Named Senior Associate Athletic Directors

July 18, 2002

Clemson, SC-Katie Hill, the senior associate athletic director at the University of Arkansas the last nine years, has been named a Senior Associate Athletic Director at Clemson University. Hill worked at the University of Arkansas for 14 years overall, including 10 years in the athletic department. During her decade with the athletic department she worked primarily with the department’s financial matters as well as handling special projects and other administrative duties.

“We are delighted that Katie Hill will be joining the Clemson family to help us work toward the goals established by President (Jim) Barker to become a top 20 public university,” said Clemson Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips.

“Also, we’re pleased to announce that Bill D’Andrea will be adding new responsibilities as senior associate athletic director. We believe these moves, along with the very good administrative team on board, will allow us the opportunity to move with a sense of urgency working toward the University’s goal of One Clemson.”

D’Andrea has been at Clemson for 17 years, the last 13 working as Director of Student-Athlete Enrichment. He took on added duties as senior associate athletic director for the football and men’s basketball programs last fall.

The grade point average of Clemson student-athletes has risen from 2.30 to 2.85 in his previous 12 years supervising the activities of Vickery Hall. Prior to that D’Andrea was an assistant football coach at Clemson from 1986-89. Clemson had a 38-8-2 record, including four bowl wins, during that time. D’Andrea earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana State and has a master’s in education from East Carolina.

Hill first joined the University of Arkansas in 1988 when the Razorback Scholarship Fund moved off campus to become the Razorback Foundation, Inc. Hill performed an important start-up role in the foundation, serving as its corporate treasurer and operation’s manager. In 1992 she moved to the athletic department to become assistant athletic director for business.

In her nine years as senior associate director, Hill oversaw business operations, budgeting and accounting, contracts, travel and purchasing. During the last four years she devoted much of her attention to the economic issues related to the expansion of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. She also oversaw the financing and development of Bud Walton Arena, the Baum Baseball Stadium and the expansion of the Randal-Tyson Indoor Track Facility. The projects combined totaled over $175 million. She also was responsible for the administration of the ticket office and the athletic training room.

Hill has an undergraduate degree from the University of Central Arkansas and a MBA from the University of Arkansas.

“We are deeply indebted to Katie for her 14 years of loyalty and dedication to the Razorbacks,” said Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles. “From her four years with the Razorback Foundation, through her 10 years here in the athletic department, I have found her to be one of the most competent and talented administrators I have ever worked with. Her expertise has served the athletic department’s need for astute fiscal management in difficult economic times and through several different facility construction projects.”
