CLEMSON, S.C. – Jacob Hinderleider’s two-out, run-scoring single capped No. 3 Clemson’s eight-run ninth inning in its 9-8 walkoff victory over No. 7 Florida State in the second game of a doubleheader at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday. The Tigers, who took a 2-0 lead in the series and won their sixth game in a row, improved to 21-2 overall and 4-1 in the ACC. The Seminoles dropped to 19-2 overall and 3-2 in ACC play.

Clemson trailed 8-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Hinderleider belted a three-run homer. After a flyball double by Jacob Jarrell, Cam Cannarella’s walk and Nolan Nawrocki’s single to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, Blake Wright hit a one-out grand slam to tie the score 8-8. Jimmy Obertop was hit-by-pitch with two outs and Will Taylor walked to set up Hinderleider’s second hit of the frame, a single to right-center, to score Obertop for the winning run.

Alden Mathes lined a run-scoring single in the first inning, then Daniel Cantu led off the second inning with a home run. Cam Smith gave the Seminoles the lead with a leadoff homer in the third inning, then Jaime Ferrer belted a solo homer later in the frame. In the fourth inning, Max Williams hit a two-run homer to double the Seminole lead. Marco Dinges added a three-run homer in the seventh inning for Florida State’s fifth long ball of the game to give the Seminoles an 8-1 lead.

Jacob McGovern (1-0) earned his first career win by pitching 2.0 scoreless innings. Carson Dorsey (2-1) suffered the loss. Seminole starter Jamie Arnold allowed just three hits, one run and two walks with nine strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched.

The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
