Clemson, S.C. – Clemson’s Kyle Cottam wrapped up play at the 2019 Sun Bowl All-America Golf Classic in El Paso, Texas on Tuesday afternoon. After shooting a four-under total through the first two rounds, Cottam finished the event one-over par with a final round five-over 76.
Cottam went without a birdie on the afternoon and would start his day off with four pars before dropping back-to-back bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes respectively. The junior closed out the afternoon with three more bogeys on his scorecard to shoot a five-over on the par-71 El Paso Country Club course.

The Knoxville native sat in a tie for eighth after the first two rounds held on Monday but would finish the event in a five-way tie for 26th with a three-round score of one-over par. Texas Tech’s Ludvig Aberg held on to claim the title with a dominating 13-under par score. Matthias Schmid of Louisville took solo second with a nine-under mark while Arkansas’ Mason Overstreet and Arkansas State’s Zan Luka Stirn finished in a two-way tie for third.
Cottam and the rest of the Clemson men’s golf team will be back in action in 2020 as they head to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico from Feb. 16-18 for the Puerto Rico Classic.
