Clemson’s Tommy Drake Invited To MLS Combine

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson men’s soccer player, Tommy Drake has been invited to the 2011 adidas Major League Soccer (MLS) Player Combine, which will take place on January 7-11 at Central Broward Regional Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Drake is among 54 college seniors from 36 NCAA Division I schools that will participate in the annual event.

Drake led the 2010 Tigers in scoring with 15 points. The midfielder was tied for the team’s lead in goals scored with five and led the team in assists with five. For his career, he played in 73 matches and had 14 goals and 13 assists for 41 points.

During his career, he was named to the ACC All-Freshman team in 2007. He also scored three winning goals against three top-20 teams his freshman year. A business major, Drake is from Chapel Hill, NC.

The initial player list for the combine was determined by a panel of Division I college coaches, representing all conferences, who nominated and voted for players in conjunction with MLS coaches. These players will be joined by Generation adidas players, additional collegiate players from NCAA Division II and III schools, NAIA schools, and Division I alternates.
