CLEMSON, S.C. — Roje Stona, Veronica Fraley and Danielle Sloley will represent the Clemson track and field program on Wednesday, April 21, at the Oliver Jackson Twilight meet in Abilene, Texas. Wednesday’s competition will begin at 2:30 p.m. (EST) with the women’s shot put. The men’s discus throw will get underway at 5:30 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the women’s discus.

Fraley enters the mid-week action with heaps of momentum following her first four meets of the season. At the Tennessee Relays on April 9, Fraley set Clemson’s school record in the women’s discus throw and became the No. 2 all-time performer in the women’s shot put. Her school-record toss of 56.70 meters (186 feet) broke Jamine Moton’s long-standing discus record of 55.52m (182-2) set back in 2001. Throughout the early part of the Tigers’ outdoor campaign, Fraley has already registered four top-5 marks in Clemson’s record book across the pair of events. Within the ACC, the junior from Raleigh, N.C., currently ranks fourth in the shot put and third in the discus.

When Stona steps into the ring for Wednesday’s discus competition, the sophomore from Montego Bay, Jamaica, will aim to surpass Clemson’s current school record in the event of 61.98m (203-4) set in back 1982 by Jack Harkness. Stona currently occupies the second position on the event’s top 10 list after throwing 61.36m (201-4) at the 2019 NCAA East Prelims in Jacksonville, Fla. At this year’s FSU Relays, Stona set a season’s best mark of 60.87m (199-8) to secure his first of two victories this season.

Sloley has proven to be an emerging talent for the Tigers as the 2021 season has progressed. A highly touted freshman from Kingston, Jamaica, Sloley currently stands as the No. 8 performer on Clemson’s all-time list for the women’s shot put following her lifetime best of 14.71m (48-3.25) at the Florida Relays on April 3. In her first year at Clemson, Sloley has proven her consistency after already having cleared 14.20m in her last three outdoor shot put competitions.
