Clemson’s Running Down the Hill to Be Featured on “Aaron’s Football Saturdays in the South” This weekend

July 13, 2006

Charlotte, N.C. – Death Valley in Clemson, South Carolina, running down the hill, and the tradition and excitement in every game are some of the highlights featured in episode one of “Aaron’s Football Saturdays in the South,” presented by Lincoln Financial Sports.

Lincoln Financial Sports’ summer mini-series will lead into the network’s fall football programming of Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference games. Episode one “Gameday,” highlights Clemson’s long lived tradition, as well as LSU, Auburn, Florida State and North and South Carolina football programs.

What has been coined “the most exciting 25 seconds in football,” from a color and pageantry standpoint, the Clemson Tigers’ tradition of running down the hill before kickoff will be highlighted in Episode one. What many do not know is that the tradition began out of practicality for players to enter the field, and Lincoln Financial Sports has the inside story into what makes Clemson, S.C. such a special college town. Also included in this piece, is Howard’s Rock, and how the rubbing of the rock before the players run down the hill of the East End Zone is just as much a vital part in the spirit and tradition for all Clemson football fans. How “Death Valley” got its name is a unique story and a credit to the Tigers football program. Since 1942, Tiger fans have relished in the timeless tradition, and look forward to continued success with their program.
