Clemson’s Barbara Kennedy-Dixon Named To 2026 Women’s Basketball Hall Of Fame Class

Clemson, S.C. Oct. 30, 2025 – Clemson’s Barbara Kennedy-Dixon has been named to The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (WBHOF) Class of 2026, as a posthumous veteran honoree, announced by the organization on Wednesday morning.

BARBARA KENNEDY-DIXON CAREER HIGHLIGHTS (1978-82)

  • Two-time First-Team All-American (1981, 1982), Three-time First-Team All-ACC (1980, 1981, 1982), Second-Team All-ACC (1979), Two-time ACC Tournament MVP (1981, 1982), All-ACC Rookie Team (1979) at Clemson (1978-82).
  • Jersey Number 42 retired by Clemson.
  • 1981-82 Single Season Scoring (908 points) and rebounding (400 rebounds) leader.
  • Leads Clemson & ACC in Career Points (3,113) and scoring average (24.5).
  • One of just eight players with at least 3,000 points and 1,000 rebounds since the NCAA started sponsoring women’s sports in 1981-82 (Barbara’s senior year); The other six players with 3,000 points and 1,000 rebounds include: Brittney Griner, Patricia Hoskins, Lorri Bauman, Elena Delle Donne, Maya Moore, Chamique Holdsclaw and Cheryl Miller.
  • Scored 20 or more points 93 times (127 total games; Scored 30 or more points 28 times; Scored 40 or more points six times), and had 20 or more rebounds five times.
  • Member of the Jones Cup Team in 1981; Earned a silver medal with the Pan American Team representing the US in 1982.
  • Played Professional Basketball in Italian Pro League for Schio Pro Team (1982-84)
  • Played for Virginia Wave (WABA, 1984).
  • Served as Clemson’s Senior Woman Administrator (2005-14).
  • Served as Clemson’s Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Academic Services (2014-17).

2026 WBHOF CLASS

The class includes four players: Delaware and Chicago Sky legend, Elena Delle Donne; University of Tennessee and WNBA great, Candace Parker; international players, Isabelle Fijalkowski and Amaya Valdemoro.

Longtime WNBA and Team USA coach, Cheryl Reeve; 36-year Kirkwood Community College head coach and NJCAA Hall of Famer, Kim Muhl.

The class is completed with Doris Burke, a contributor for her work at ESPN as an analyst for women’s basketball and a multi-year First-team All-ACC recipient, and Barbara Kennedy-Dixon, a posthumous Veteran honoree.

THE INDUCTION CEREMONY

The Tennessee Theatre will host the induction ceremony on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Each Inductee is awarded the Berenson Trophy, sponsored by Smith College, and named in honor of notable Smith College coach Senda Berenson, who is recognized as the “Mother of Women’s Basketball.”  Each Inductee will also be presented with a WBHOF Ring, presented by Baron Championship Rings.
