SARASOTA, Fla. – The Clemson Tigers 1v8 highlights day one of the Big 10 Invite on Friday, April 19 in Sarasota, Fla at Nathan Benderson Park. The Clemson Tigers finished the first day of the Big 10 Invite with one first place, two second place, two third place, three fourth place and two fifth place finishes.
“We had a strong showing on the first day of rowing here in Sarasota” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “The competition level is really high so when the V8 won their morning race in a close finish with Alabama, Wisconsin and Michigan State it was like getting a shot of adrenaline. They led the race from wire to wire and it was such a gutsy performance. The 2v8, 1v4, 2v4 and 3v8 had results today that they can build upon in Saturday’s morning session. So, we’re going to rest up and come out swinging for round three tomorrow”
The day started at 10:30 a.m. with the 2v4s finishing in fourth place at 7:56.028. The Tigers 1v4 then raced a solid race, following Alabama behind only four seconds for a second place finish at 7:34.840. After the 2v8’s finished third at 6:55.308, the Tiger’s 1v8 impressed as they earned first place with a 6:40.568 time, defeating Alabama, Wisconsin and MSU.
