Clemson Women’s Track And Field Qualifies Two Individuals And Wins Eight Events At NC-SC All-Star Meet

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s track and field team competed at the 2003 NC-SC All-Star Meet held at the Rock Norman Track Complex on Saturday, and several members also competed at the SeaRay Relays in Knoxville, TN. In Clemson, Joana Costa and Katie Pickett qualified for the East Region Championships, and the Lady Tigers won eight events.

Angela Thomas was the runner-up in the 400m with a time of 58.80, and Keshia Haughton and Marquita Dortch finished one-two in the 100m hurdles. Haughton posted a time of 14.25, and Dortch recorded a 14.53 in the hurdles. Marquita Dortch also won the 400m hurdles, recording a time of 1:04.62.

In the field events, Angela Thomas won the long jump with her mark of 17’8.5″, while Keshia Haughton placed third (114’7″), and Katie Pickett took fourth with a mark of 107’6″.

At the SeaRay Relays, the Lady Tigers’ 4x100m relay team recorded a time of 46.24 to finish eighth. Danielle Whaley competed in the 100m and 200m, posting times of 12.22 and 25.27. Denise Cruse recorded a time of 55.85 in the 400m and Silja Ulfarsdottir finished the 400m with a time of 56.55. In the 400m hurdles, Shakirah Rutherford posted a time of 1:01.71.

The Lady Tigers return to action on Apr. 18-19 in Raleigh, NC, at the 2003 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
