Clemson Women’s Tennis Team Defeats Chattanooga 6-1

CLEMSON, SC – The 29th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team defeated Chattanooga by a score of 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson. The Tigers improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Mocs fall to 0-4.

In doubles action, the Tigers’ team of Julie Coin and Alix Lacelarie won an 8-4 decision over Chattanooga’s Catherine Allen and Saskia van Velze at flight one. At number two doubles, Clemson’s Laurence Jayet and Ana Stiglic defeated Bethany Everett and Cynthia Oulevay, 8-4. The Tigers’ Daniela Alvarez and Richele LeSaldo were victorious at flight three over the Mocs’ Charlotte Goude and Lauren Snipes (8-2).

In singles play, Coin, currently ranked 23rd by the ITA, defeated Allen by a score of 6-1, 6-1 at flight one. Lacelarie won a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Goude at number two singles. At flight three singles, Clemson’s Stiglic fell in three sets (6-7, 6-2, 5-7) to Oulevay. Alvarez of the Tigers defeated van Velze at number four singles, 6-3, 6-3, while Jayet won a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Everett at flight five. Clemson’s Ioana Paun defeated Snipes by a score of 6-1, 6-0 at number six singles.

The Tigers will play host to the Charlotte 49ers Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson.
