CLEMSON, SC – Clemson women’s tennis, ranked 15th nationally, moved to 8-0 on the season with a 7-0 win against Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon. It is only the third 8-0 start for Clemson in team history. Clemson moved to 4-0 all-time against the 49ers, who fell to 0-4 in 2010 with the loss. This was Clemson’s final home match until March 5.

Each of the Tigers’ next seven opponents will likely be ranked, starting with #8 Southern California on Friday.

Clemson took a 1-0 lead with a sweep in the doubles competition. Estefania Balda and the reigning ACC Player of the Week, Laurianne Henry, defeated the team of Cunningham and Ekelund, 8-0 at flight three. Balda and Henry are now 3-0 in dual match play.

Then, Ina Hadziselimovic and Keri Wong moved to 7-1 on the season with their 8-3 win against Andrea Rivera and Alexandra Zinn at flight one.

Hadziselimovic continued her strong play at flight three, winning 6-1, 6-0 over Gabi Vergara to move to 7-1 on the season. Henry followed that with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Iveta Guneva, her third straight win overall.

Estefania Balda defeated Anna Ekelund in a pro set, 8-0, winning her fifth straight match at flight six, while Keri Wong closed the match at flight two in another pro set, winning 8-0 at moving to 7-1 on the season.

The Tigers return to action on Friday as they take on 8th-ranked Southern California in the Final 16 of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The ACC has six schools represented among the final 16 of the tournament, held in Madison, WI.
