Clemson Women’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision To NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The 53rd-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision NC State Sunday afternoon in Raleigh. The Tigers drop to 5-7, 0-2 in the ACC on the season while the Wolfpack improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Clemson’s Anna Savitskaya dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision to Kristin Lam at one singles while the Tiger’s Christina Oldock defeated NC State’s Jackie Leskovar 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at two singles. The Tiger’s Milena Stanoycheva defeated Jennifer Jassawalla 6-4, 6-3 at the three singles position while Clemson’s Laurence Jayet lost 6-4, 6-0 to Kristen Nicholls at the four slot. Ana Stiglic picked up Clemson’s third point at five singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Loni Worsley. Myrna Bawomo defeated Anna Dolinska at six singles in a three-set battle, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3.

NC State won two out of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point for the Wolfpack. Clemson’s Stiglic and Oldock teamed up at two doubles to NC State’s Jassawalla and Lam 8-5. At the top doubles position, the Tigers’ Savitskaya and Dolinska lost 9-7 to Worsley and Leskovar. The Wolfpack’s Nicholls and Bawono defeated Jayet and Stanoycheva 8-3 at three doubles.

Clemson will host the University of Houston Saturday, Mar. 17, at 11:00 am at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
