Clemson Women’s Tennis Downs #44 Oklahoma

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s team defeated the University of Oklahoma 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon in Hawaii. With the win, the Tigers improve to 8-6 overall while the 44th-ranked Sooners fall to 10-3.

Clemson claimed two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Tigers’ team of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie defeated Oklahoma’s Griffin and Janova by a score of 8-3 at number one doubles. At flight two doubles, Clemson’s Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya were victorious over the Sooners’ Perianu and Saluri, 8-6. At number three doubles, the Tigers’ Ana Stiglic and Richele LeSaldo fell to Oklahoma’s Bryntesson and Braver, 8-1.

In singles action, Clemson freshman Alix Lacelarie defeated Anda Perianu by a score of 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 at number one singles. Clemson’s Anna Dolinska of Clemson was defeated by Oklahoma’s Heather Saluri 6-2, 6-2. The Tigers’ Ioana Paun defeated Oklahoma’s Annette Bryntesson 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 at number four singles. Clemson’s Ana Stiglic lost a 6-4, 6-3 match to Oklahoma’s Bethany Griffin at the five singles position. The Tigers’ Milena Stanoycheva was victorious in the six singles slot over the Sooners’ Jessica Braver 6-2, 6-2.

The Tigers will face conclude their trip in Hawaii with matches against Murray State and Washington State on Friday, Mar. 22.
