Clemson Women’s Tennis Defeats N.C. State, 6-1

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team defeated the N.C. State Wolfpack by a score of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in Clemson. With the win, the Tigers improve to 5-6 overall (1-1 in the ACC), while the Wolfpack falls to 5-5 (0-2 in the ACC).

Clemson won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Tiger’s team of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie defeated N.C. State’s Katrina Gildemeister and Kristen Nicholls by a score of 8-4 at number one doubles. At flight two doubles, Clemson’s Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya were victorious over Myrna Bawono and Jennifer Jassawalla of the Wolfpack, 8-3. The Tigers’ Richele LeSaldo and Ioana Paun won an 8-5 decision over N.C. State’s Landis Strader and Loni Worsley at number three doubles.

In singles action, Clemson freshman Alix Lacelarie defeated Katrina Gildemeister by a score of 6-2, 6-4 at number one singles. Tiger Anna Savitskaya earned a win at the two singles slot over Myrna Bawono, 6-2, 6-2. At flight three singles, Anna Dolinska of Clemson fell to N.C. State’s Kristen Nicholls by a score of 7-5, 6-3. The Tigers’ Ioana Paun earned a three-set victory over Loni Worsley of N.C. State, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 at number four singles. Clemson’s Ana Stiglic won a 7-6(11), 6-4 decision over the Wolfpack’s Jennifer Jassawalla at the five singles position. Milena Stanoycheva of the Tigers was victorious in the six singles slot over N.C. State’s Stadelmann, 7-6(6), 6-0.

The Tigers will play host to South Florida on Friday, Mar. 15 at 2:30 p.m. in Clemson.
