Clemson Women’s Tennis Defeats Furman, 7-0

GREENVILLE, SC – The 15th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team defeated the Furman Paladins, 7-0 at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, SC. The Tigers moved to 6-0 on the season, while Furman fell to 0-3. The Tigers will travel to #4 Georgia on Saturday for a noon showdown.

The Tigers swept the doubles point, as Estefania Balda and Laurianne Henry defeated Olivia Maurice and Jessica Preeg, 8-2, at flight three to give the Tigers a 1-0 edge. Then, Ina Hadziselimovic stayed perfect on the season, moving to 6-0 at the flight one doubles spot.

Ina Hadziselimovic moved to 5-1 on the season with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jessica Preeg to give Clemson a 3-0 lead. Ninth-ranked Josipa Bek won 6-3, 6-2 at flight two against Lauren Kline.

Freshman Estefania Balda won her third straight match, taking down Jennifer Betts, 6-1, 6-0 at flight six. Laurianne Henry then defeated Susan Bitetti, 6-1, 6-2 to give Clemson the 7-0 win.

Clemson moved to 40-3 all-time in the series with Furman.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday as they travel to Athens, GA to take on 4th-ranked UGA. The match is slated to get underway at noon.
