Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson Tiger women’s tennis team claimed their second win of the season Friday afternoon with a victory over the College of Charleston. The Tigers defeated the Cougars by a score of 6-1. Clemson’s Christina Oldock dropped a three-set heartbreaker (2-6, 7-5, 6-3) to Charleston’s Marcella Valkenhoff at the one singles position while Anna Savitskaya defeated the Cougar’s Liorah Levin 6-1, 6-4 at the number two slot. At three singles, Clemson’s Laurence Jayet defeated Renata Camargo 6-1, 6-1 and the Tigers’ Ana Stiglic won at four singles, defeating Whitney Malina 6-1, 6-2. In her first collegiate match for Clemson, Anna Dolinska won her fifth seed match over Emily Scatuorchio 6-3, 6-2. Ashlea Bowen wrapped up singles play with a 6-4, 6-1 win over the College of Charleston’s Brook Raynal. The duo of Oldock and Jayet combined to win the number one doubles match 8-0 over the Cougars’ Seiverling and Levin. Clemson’s Savitskaya and Dolinska paired up at number two doubles and defeated Valkenhoff and Scatorchio 8-3 while Stiglic and Bowen completed the doubles sweep at the number three position with an 8-5 win over Camargo and Malina. Clemson (2-0) will host the University of South Alabama on Sunday, January 28, at noon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Singles 1 Marcella Valkenhoff (CofC) def.
