CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Clemson men’s tennis team earned a 5-2 ACC road victory over Boston College on Friday in Chestnut Hill, Mass. With the win, the Tigers are now 9-15 (2-9 ACC), while the Eagles dropped to 6-15 (0-12 ACC).
Clemson won the doubles point by virtue of victories on Court 1 and Court 2, in that order. Teodor Giusca and Yizhou Liu claimed a 6-3 win at No. 1, followed by Mike Agee and Pierre-Louis Dodens with a 6-4 win at No. 2. Simon Baudry and Jacob Jahn led 6-5 at No. 3 when doubles play was abandoned.
After the Eagles won by retirement at No. 3 singles, Liu won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2 to put the Tigers back up 2-1. At No. 3 singles, Giusca battled back after losing the first set for a convincing three-set win, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Boston College took the win at No. 5 singles, before Baudry clinched the Clemson victory at No. 1 singles in three sets, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Jahn provided the fifth and final point for the Tigers, winning 6-4, 7-5 on Court 6.
