*K.C. Rivers recorded his second consecutive double figure rebound game, but his first career double-double. The sophomore had 17 points and 14 rebounds in this evening’s game. He had a career high 10 rebounds in the ACC tournament game against Florida State, then followed that with another career high rebound performance tonight.
*Trevor Booker also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Booker scored eight of his 11 points in the last 7:20 of the game. It marked the first time all year Clemson had two players record a double-double in the same game. It was also the first time all year Clemson had two players record double figures in rebounding in the same game.
*Clemson had 51 rebounds and a +19 rebound margin, including a +13 rebound margin in terms of offensive rebounds. It was Clemson’s high rebound total in a game this year, its best rebound margin in a game since a +23 rebound margin in the win over Western Carolina on December 23 and a the best offensive rebound margin in a game since a +19 in the win at Minnesota.
*Clemson held East Tennessee State to 7.7 percent three-point shooting on 1-13 shooting. It was the best three-point shooting defense by an East Tennessee State opponent this year.
*Clemson now has 22 wins for the season three short of the Clemson single season record of 25 set in 1986-87. This means Clemson has at least a +3 victory improvement each of the last three years. Clemson has gone for 10 wins in 2003-04 to 16 in 2004-05 to 19 in 2005-06 to 22 in 2006-07.
*Clemson has now won seven consecutive NIT home games dating to a 1982 home loss to Mississippi. Clemson will play the winner of the Mississippi vs. Appalachian State game Monday night at Clemson.
*Clemson has now played two NIT games against the Bartow family and has scored 64 points in both games. Clemson lost a 65-64 NIT second round game at UAB, a team coached by Gene Bartow (who was at tonight’s game) in 1993. Clemson won 64-57 this evening against his son, Murry Bartow.
*Over the last five Clemson games, neither team has had a double digit at any point in the game four times. Clemson has now played six straight games decided by seven points or less.
*With his 11 points tonight, Trevor Booker is still averaging over 10 points per game for the season, giving Clemson five players averaging in double figures this year. Clemson has had just one team in its history have five double figure scorers in the same season (1969-70).
*James Mays and Trevor Booker were a combined 1-15 to start the game from he field, but made 6- of their last 8.
