Clemson Volleyball Defeats Virginia, 3-2

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Clemson volleyball team concluded its ACC regular season with a win over Virginia Saturday night in Charlottesville. The Tigers downed the Cavaliers 3-2 (30-27, 20-30, 30-25, 27-30, 15-8). Clemson improves to 10-16 overall, and 4-12 in the ACC, while Virginia falls to 7-17, 3-13 in the ACC.

The Tigers were led on offense by freshmen outside hitters Leslie Finn and Ryane Beasley, with 23 and 22 kills, respectively. Freshman Lori Ashton recorded a .400 hitting percentage for the Tigers with 10 kills, two errors and 20 total attempts. Ashton led the team with five blocks (two solo). Setter Jessi Betcher had a team high 37 assists and 23 digs for Clemson.

Virginia’s offense was paced by Andrea Fischer with 19 kills and a .389 hitting percentage. Abby Whittenburg and Lily Phillips tallied 39 and 32 assists, respectively for the Cavaliers. Virginia was led in digs by Jenny Harmon, with 15. Alexis Geocaris recorded 7 blocks for the Cavs.

Clemson will travel to the ACC Championships in Tallahassee, FL on Nov. 15-18.
