ATHENS, GA – The Clemson Tigers improved their overall record to 2-2 with a 3-1 (30-24, 30-21, 28-30, 32-30) win over the Georgia Bulldogs Wednesday night at the Ramsey Center.
Clemson recorded a .234 hitting percentage for the match, and held the Bulldogs to .161. The Tigers also dominated the net, recording 12 blocks compared to Georgia’s eight. Both teams had three service aces for the match, while the Tigers had 70 digs and Georgia recorded 65 defensive saves.
Senior Jodi Steffes led four Tiger hitters in double figures with 21 kills, 12 digs and five blocks (one solo). Redshirt freshman Ryane Beasley added 16 kills with 18 digs, and senior Meredith Kirtland and junior Anne Berki added 12 kills each. Berki also led the team with a match-high nine blocks (two solo), while Kirtland tallied 11 digs. Junior Jessi Betcher recorded a match-high 58 assists.
Clemson hosts the Big Orange Bash Friday and Saturday at Jervey Gym. The Tigers will take on the Wright State Raiders Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in their first home match of the season.
