Clemson to Start Play in ACC Tournament Friday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s tennis team will play NC State in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Friday morning at 9:00 AM at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, NC.  The Tigers are ranked 26th in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association Poll.Clemson is seeded fifth while NC State is seeded fourth.  Clemson finished the regular season with a 17-6 record overall and a 6-4 mark in the ACC.  The Tigers finished tied for fourth in the ACC standings this season.  This is the highest that Clemson has finished in the ACC standings since 2003.  It was also the most ACC wins in a season for the Tigers since the 2007 campaign.

NC State is ranked 38th nationally.  The Wolfpack has a 13-9 record overall and a 6-4 mark in the ACC.Clemson is led by Yannick Maden.  Maden is ranked 23th nationally by the ITA poll.  The senior from Stuttgart, Germany had a 24-7 record overall in singles.  Maden has a 18-4 mark in dual matches all at number-one singles.  Hunter Harrington has a 20-8 record overall in singles.  He has a 16-5 record in dual matches.The doubles team of Yannick Maden and his brother Dominique Maden has 21-6 record overall and an 11-3 mark in dual matches.  The Madens are ranked 11th as a doubles team according to this week’s ITA listing.NC State defeated the Tigers 4-2 on March 22 at Clemson, SC.  This will be the 65th meeting between Clemson and NC State on the tennis courts.  The Tigers lead the overall series 51-13.  When meeting at a neutral site, the Tigers lead the series 4-0.  The series first started in 1940.
