Clemson To Compete in Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson will be one of 14 teams competing for the title at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate this weekend at the Lakeside Course at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga.

The field includes eight teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the latest Spikemark college golf rankings. Eight of the teams, including Clemson, advanced to stroke play at the 2024 NCAA National Tournament, and four teams reached match play.

The field includes ACC teams from Clemson, Stanford, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and host school Georgia Tech. SEC teams from Alabama, Vanderbilt and Tennessee are in the field along with Big 10 teams UCLA, Southern California, and Washington. East Tennessee State and Pepperdine round out the field for the 18th annual event.

This will be Clemson’s 17th appearance at the Golf Club of Georgia since a sixth-place finish in the inaugural event in April of 1997. Clemson won the tournament in 2006 and 2009 and has nine top six finishes.

Clemson will take a roster composed of two seniors, two freshmen and a junior for this weekend’s tournament that will run from Friday October 18 through Sunday, October 20.

Senior Kian Rose has the top stroke average with a 71.50 figure for two tournaments of stroke play so far this year. Andrew Swanson is another senior in the lineup. The native of Bluffton, SC has a 73.00 stroke average for the year, and a 72.02 stroke average for his career. It will be his 29th career tournament at Clemson.

Freshmen Colin Salema and Rich Wills also will be in the lineup. Both are from North Carolina, Salema from Matthews and Wills from Cramerton. Salema has the second-best stroke average on the team at 72.17, while Wills is fourth at 73.00. Wills was Clemson’s best player at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, a match play formatted tournament, with a 2-0-1 record.

The only junior in the lineup is Sweden native Lucas Augustsson who has a 73.17 stroke average. The East Carolina transfer will be in Clemson’s team lineup for the third time this year, including the Nicklaus Cup.
