Clemson, S.C – The Clemson Volleyball team used a strong offensive performance to secure a 3-0, (25-22, 25-18, 25-12) sweep over Gardner-Webb on Sunday night in Jervey Gym to improve to 3-2 on the young season.
Setter Mckenna Slavik guided the offense to a .375 hitting percentage on the day, and totaled 35 assists, 10 digs, and four total blocks in the first matchup with the Runnin’ Bulldogs since 1980.
Ani Clark finished with eight kills on 11 attempts while hitting .727. Senior Ava Pritchard gave Clemson an emphatic kill to secure the second set (25-18) and totaled 7 kills on .636 hitting. Camryn Hannah added a game-high 11 kills for the Tigers.
Clemson registered seven service aces offensively, while on the other end allowed only allowed three Bulldog aces on 54 tries.
The Bulldogs came close in set No. 2 after a 4-0 run to cut the lead down to 23-18. After a timeout from Head Coach Jackie Simpson Kirr, the Tigers pulled away to secure the set victory.
Devan Taylor led from the libero spot with 13 digs, 7 assists, and 2 aces.
