Clemson Seals 4-3 Win Over FAU

Clemson, S.C. — The Clemson men’s tennis team closed out a 4-3 victory against FAU in the season’s first match on the outdoor home courts on Sunday afternoon. Clemson took the early lead in doubles as Carlos Kelaidis/Teodor Guisca raced to a 6-0 finish at line three before Jacob Jahn/Mike Agee notched a 6-4 win on court two to secure the doubles point. In singles seniors Kelaidis and Gabriel Diaz Freire each won their matches in straight sets on courts four and one, respectively, to push the Tigers ahead 3-2. After finding himself down 1-4 in the first set, Giusca battled back to take the set 7-6 (7-5) and went on to clinch the match for the Tigers in the No. 3 slot.

  • The Tigers improve to 3-0 all time against FAU in addition to winning their first match at home against the Owls.
  • Teodor Giusca/Carlos Kelaidis are now on a four-match winning streak.
  • Kelaidis improved to 16-7 overall on the season in singles
  • In singles, Clemson is averaging a .586 winning percentage overall.
  • In dual matches, the Tigers are averaging a .615 winning percentage in doubles.
