SARASOTA, FLA. — After a weekend off from competition, the Clemson rowing returns to racing at the Sunshine State Invite in Sarasota, Fla. Held at Nathan Benderson Park, the site of the 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships, the Invite brings together 12 division I teams to compete in the two day event.
Last year at the Invite, four of Clemson’s five boats took home medals. The team’s performance was highlighted by the 2V4’s first place performance in both their heat and grand final. They crossed the finish line in 7:27.80 in front of seven other crews to claim first in the event. Their win earned them ACC Crew of the Week honors.
“This regatta is another chance to face a championship-style regatta program, but it is never a given that any boat advances from heats to the Grand Final so we are taking one race at a time. We learned some lessons from New Jersey that we are looking to implement this weekend in the Sunshine State. ”
