Clemson Rowing Secures Six on NSD

Clemson S.C. – Clemson Rowing Head Coach, Stephen Frazier Wong, announced Wednesday the addition of six student-athletes to the team on National Signing Day. The class features five rowers and one coxswain.

“We are excited to officially welcome these new Tigers to our Clemson Family” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “This class of 2028 will benefit from many improvements here at Clemson. When the members of this class of 2028 were on their visits to campus they had to deal with a lot of dirt and construction and we can’t wait for them to see all the changes that will make their Clemson experience even better than they could have imagined.”

Rower – St. Louis, Mo. – Visitation Academy

Rower Claire Fulton joins Clemson from St. Louis, Missouri. In 2022, Fulton was named Academic All-Conference, All-Conference and All-District. In addition to rowing, Fulton also played volleyball, basketball and soccer. 

Coxswain – Madison, WI – Madison Country Day School

The lone coxswain, Charlotte, Krez, has seven years of rowing experience and is from Madison, Wisconsin. Krez competed in the Head of the Charles for three years and the Head of the Hooch for four years. 

Rower – Iowa City, IA – City High School

Hailing from Iowa City, Iowa, Izzy Greving has been rowing for five years while also playing volleyball. Greving placed third in the youth four at summer nationals, second in the open right at summer nationals and second at the U23 eight at summer nationals. 

Rower – Austin, Texas – Stephen F. Austin HS

Hailing from Austin, Texas, Jessica Ream is an exciting addition to the Clemson team. In addition to rowing for two years, Ream also has experience with competitive swimming. Ream earned the Coaches Choice Award three times for swimming and was the rowing novice team captain in 2022. Additionally, she placed 12th in the 1v8+ 2023 San Diego Crew Classic, first in the 1v8+ 2023 Texas State Championship, first and second in the 1v8+ 2023 USRowing Central Youth Championships and 27th in the 1v4+ Head of the Charles. 

Rower – Ashburn, Va. 

Skyler Riggio joins Clemson from Ashburn, Virginia. In the one year that Riggio has rowed, she was named the 2022 Athlete of the Year, placed first in the Novice fours at Walter Mess Regatta, ranked first out of 18 and finished in the top half at the Stotesbury Cup. In addition to rowing, Riggio was a skillful volleyball player. In Volleyball, she was named First Team All Region twice, First Team All District twice and Second Team All Region once. In the year 2022-2023, Riggio was the captain of her volleyball team, the Female Athlete of the Year for the month of October, Prep-Dig Top 3 List (Virginia), Prep-Dig Top 25 List (Virginia), the 2022-2023 AVCA Phenom Watchlist and the 2023-2024 AVCA Top 100 Opposites in America.  

Rower – Northville, Mich. – Northville HS

Lauren Okopny is making the switch to rowing after competing competitively in swimming for six years. In swimming, Okopny was the varsity team captain and won her big conference meet six years in a row. Okopny comes to Clemson from Northville, Michigan.
