April 25, 2007

The Clemson rowing program is ranked fifth in the South Region, according to the NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Committee poll released Tuesday. The Tigers are fresh off a second-place team effort at the ACC Championships, held last weekend in Clemson.

The Tigers are ranked fifth among region schools in the varsity 4+ and sixth in the varsity 8+ and second varsity 8+. Clemson was second in both the second varsity 8+ and varsity 4+ races at the ACC regatta over the weekend.

The Tigers placed third in the first varsity 8+ last weekend and have been ranked as high as #12 in the US Rowing/CRCA coaches’ poll this season. Clemson’s first varsity 8+ is a two-time recipient of the ACC’s Crew of the Week honor as well.

Clemson’s next competition, the Central/South Region Sprints, will take place in Oak Ridge, TN on May 12-13.
