WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team has been competing at the ITA Regionals in the Carolina Region, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 21. The Tigers’ tournament has been highlighted by the success of its doubles pairs.
The grouping of Eleni Louka and Ali DeSpain have marched to the quarterfinals of the Main Draw, winning their matches 8-3 and 8-4. Daniella Medvedeva and Cristina Mayorova have dominated their competition, moving into the quarterfinals with 8-3 and 8-0 victories. Both teams will play this afternoon at 1 and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
In singles play, Jenna Thompson and Samantha Buyckx were both able to qualify for the Main Draw with two Thursday victories. Louka, Buyckx, DeSpain and Medvedeva all went 1-1 from the Main Draw. Thompson will play in the quarterfinal of the consolation bracket today against South Carolina’s Gracie Mulville.
Alexandra Anttila has stormed through the B Draw, winning her first match 6-3, 6-1, and then coming from behind to secure a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory. She will play in the B Draw semifinal this morning.
