Coach Mike Noonan noted that his Clemson Tigers had been “living on the edge” the entire ACC Tournament.
In the first round, they played through two overtimes and beat Wake Forest in penalty kicks thanks in part to three saves in five shots from backup goalkeeper Chris Glodack.
In the semifinals, they played through two overtimes and beat defending national champions Notre Dame in penalty kicks, 5-4.
Playing 90 minutes wasn’t enough. Even 110 minutes wasn’t enough.
“But ‘on the edge’ is a good place to be,” said Noonan with a smile.
