Clemson in Sixth Place Entering Final Round at The Blessings

Clemson, SC—Senior Jonathan Nielsen fired a three-under-par 69 on Tuesday to lead Clemson at The Blessings Collegiate at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  Clemson is in sixth place in the nine-team field after two rounds, but stands just three shots out of fourth place.

The tournament is being played on the par 72 university course at the University of Arkansas.  The 54-hole three-day tournament concludes on Wednesday.  The Golf Channel will broadcast the final round live from 4:30 to 7:30 pm eastern time.

Host school Arkansas leads the tournament by six shots with a 13-under-par score of 563.  Mississippi State stands in second place at 569 and third ranked Washington is third with a 577 total.  Kentucky is fourth at 590, Minnesota is fifth at 591 and Clemson is sixth at 593, one shot ahead of league rival NC State.  South Carolina is eighth at 600.

Nielsen, a native of Denmark, has had rounds of 74 and 69 and his 143 score ranks sixth in the field of 50 golfers after two rounds.   He is one of just 10 players who stand under par after 36 holes.  He had a team best six birdies on Tuesday and shot under par on both nines.

Kian Rose and Callahan Keever both had rounds of 75 on Tuesday.  Keever, who had a team best 72 in the first round, stands at 147 after two rounds, good enough for 21st place.  Those is in 37th place after two rounds with a 152 score.

Thomas Higgins had three straight birdies on the back nine on Tuesday and finished with a 77 on Tuesday.  He is in 34th place with a 151 total.   Andrew Swanson had a 77 on Tuesday and is in 43rd place with a 155 total after 36 holes.
