Clemson in Fourth with Play Suspended in Second Round of ICON Invitational

Clemson, S.C. — Alice Hewson leads the field at six-under par after 33 holes at the ICON Invitational at The Woodlands Country Club on Monday. The second round was suspended due to darkness as a lightning delay earlier in the day set the round behind.

Houston and Purdue share the lead and are five-over par, six strokes ahead of Texas A&M. The Tigers are fourth at 16-over par, while Kent State and TCU are fifth at 17-over par.

Hewson fired off a two-under par 70 in the opening round of the ICON Invitational. The England native had four birdies and two bogeys to lead the Tigers. The senior carried the momentum from the first round into the second round, picking up another four birdies. She leads the field in par four scoring with a 3.78 average.

Ivy Shepherd is currently six-over par after a first round 77. Ana Paula Valdes is eight-over par after an opening of 74. Callista Rice is one shot in front of Alexandra Swayne at 11-over par.

The 54-hole tournament continues on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
