Clemson in 12th Place after Two Rounds of Wake Forest Invitational

Clemson, SC—Andrew Swanson had rounds of 70 and 76 on Monday to lead Clemson after 36 holes of the Wake Forest Invitational at famed Pinehurst #2 in Pinehurst, NC.  Swanson’s six over par 146 total is good enough for 34th place.

Swanson has been Clemson’s best player over the last three tournaments and is 15-under-par for his last 11 rounds.   Zack Gordon and Alberto Dominguez were Clemson’s second best players on Monday with 148 totals.  Gordon, who is defending co-medalist of the event, had a 75 in the first round and 73 in the second.  His 73 was the best for a Tiger in the second round.  Dominguez had rounds of 73-75.

Kian Rose and Sean Curran both had 156 totals for the 36 holes on Monday.  Rose was making his first appearance of the spring after suffering a wrist injury.  He had rounds of 80-76.  Curran had rounds of 77-79.

Clemson is in 12th place as a team with a 595 team score.  Virginia and UNC Greensboro have the team lead at 564 through 36 holes.

Thomas Higgins was actually Clemson’s best golfer on Monday, but he is playing the event as an individual.  The freshman had rounds of 70-73 and his 143 total is good enough for 20th place.
