CLEMSON, S.C. — Rich Wills shot a two-under par 70 on Monday to tie for the individual lead and give Clemson a four-shot team lead entering the final round of the Marquette Invitational at Erin Hills. The three-day 54 hole tournament is being held at famed par 72 Erin Hills Golf Club in Hartford, Wisconsin.
Clemson has a four-shot lead over Oral Roberts (+23), while Texas A&M and San Diego State are tied for third at 25-over-par. SEC team Florida stands in fifth place at +28.
Wills is tied for the individual lead with Parker Severs of the University of Florida. Severs is playing the event as an individual. Wills and Parker stand at even par 144 for the first two rounds as none of the 89 players in the field stand under par on the scoreboard. The average score for the first 36 holes stands at 77.73.
Wills’ second round included four birdies and an eagle. His six birdies through two rounds now give him 99 for his career. His eagle on Monday came on the par five 614-yard 14th hole when he hit his second shot to two feet from the flag.
Colin Salema had an even-par 72 in the second round thanks to a team best 34 on the back nine. The sophomore played the last 12 holes bogey free and he stands in fifth place entering the final round.
Thomas Higgins also had a 75 on Monday and gives the Tigers a third player in the top 15. The senior from Ireland is at six-over-par for 36 holes after consecutive rounds of 75. Lucas Augustsson also had a 75 on Monday and is in 38th place with a 152 score for 36 holes.
Freshman Sam Duran had an 81 after an opening round 80. Tip Price is making his debut for the Tigers and is playing as an individual. He also had an 81 on Monday after and opening round 82 on Sunday.
