Clemson Finishes Sixth at the Sun Trust Gator Invitational

Clemson, S.C.—Alice Hewson shot an even par 70 on Sunday while her and Sydney Legacy were the top performers over the two days of the tournament as Clemson finished 6th in the Sun Trust Gator Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

Twelfth-ranked Florida won the event with an 840 score, while eighth ranked Furman was tied for second at 852.

Hewson finished tied for 13th in the individual race with a 214 total after her final round 70 that included two birdies and two bogeys. Legacy also finished tied for 13th with a final round of 71.

After a very strong first and second round yesterday, Kennedy Swannfinished with a score of 221. Ana Paula Valdes shot a 76 in the final round, with three bogeys and one triple bogey, to give her a 221 for the three rounds. Marisa Messana shot a 78 on Sunday afternoon, finishing with a score of 233.

Freshman Callista Rice is playing the event as an individual and her 236 score for the three rounds tied for 67th.

Kelley Hester’s team will be back in action March 23-25, when they play host to the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C. Admission is free.
